GUIDA IMPOSSIBILE DI SAN VITTOREMILANO2024
The research aims to report through a multidisciplinary, scientific and ethnographic approach, the functioning of the San Vittore Prison in Milan. The metaphor of the urban fabric was used to analyse the penitentiary institution to be understood as a city, with its venues, its dynamics and its inhabitants. The reference to urban imagery allowed the adoption of a more accessible narrative style, using a language that moves between the ironic and the fictional, typical of explorers' guidebooks such as The Passenger by Iperborea, intended as an inspiration.
The study combines theoretical analysis of data, regulations, and cultural narratives with participatory fieldwork in San Vittore. It emphasizes personal interaction with spaces and people. The project emerges as a collaborative effort involving many contributors.
The project extends to public spaces through installations that resemble interior doors, acting as urban megaphones. These installations aim to reveal and challenge the social divide, opening up a dialogue between the prison and the city.
